7 criteria to prioritize in your quest for the perfect boot

Are you looking for fashionable winter boots that will also keep you warm on the way to the office? Would you like to be able to wear them when you’re out with friends, without freezing your feet while you’re clearing the snow from your car? Is it possible to find a pair of warm and fashionable boots? The answer is yes! Here are a few criteria to prioritize in your search for the boots that will see you through the winter.
Resistance to the cold
If you drive to work, you can probably choose a slightly less warm boot. As you won’t be exposed to the cold for long, your feet shouldn’t suffer too much. What’s more, you’ll be less hot during the car journey and your feet will be less damp in the end! If you’re not convinced, opt for a sheepskin sole or woolen socks when the mercury drops very low.
The color
In order to wear your boots as often as possible and to keep them for a long time, it is best to think about the color before buying. Think about your winter clothes and coats. You should choose a pair of boots that will match your clothes (for outings to restaurants with friends, for example) as well as your winter coat. Can’t match everything? Choose black over any other color! For a change, opt for gray or brown.
3- The sole
If you only have time to buy one pair of winter boots, the best pair will have a fairly flat, non-slip sole. However, beware of heels that are too thin, as they will sink into the snow and increase the risk of falling. Because the pavements will probably be snowy or icy, choose a square heel of medium height if you want to gain a few inches.
4- Height
It’s a question of looks! Your boots should be high enough to allow you to walk through the snowdrifts. When shopping, think about the key pieces in your wardrobe. Once again, prioritize a model that goes with most of your favorite clothes and your style in general. Make sure you have a pair of boots to match your favorite clothes. High or short, there is something for everyone!
5- Composition
For winter, leather is an excellent choice. It is quite warm (retains the foot’s heat) and is waterproof. Some models are very affordable. When choosing a pair of winter boots, think durability and cost per wear. The buying principles you use when shopping for basics are the same for winter boots. As leather is relatively easy to maintain and durable, you can keep them for many years. What’s more, leather is versatile. You can wear your boots to happy hours as well as to shovel the snow off your car at the end of your working day!
6- Comfort
Finally, don’t forget that you’ll be wearing your boots for a long time! Comfort is more important than any of the other criteria mentioned! Even if you think you’ve found the perfect pair of boots, make sure you’re comfortable! Walk around in them for a few minutes. You shouldn’t feel any rubbing at the heel or toes.
7- Fur or not?
It’s a matter of taste! If you have to ride a big snowbank to your office, the fur will keep the snow out. However, fur (and faux fur) does not go with all styles. Think about it before making your final choice!
