Are you one of those people who love costumes, makeup and sweets? Whether you’re a fan of Halloween or not, the festival of death requires a little atmosphere to appreciate it to its full potential! For those who are always last minute to find a Halloween costume, you don’t need to organize a big party or a fancy dress party to get into the Halloween spirit with your family. Here are some quick and easy ideas that will help you enjoy the arrival of October 31 even more.

Playing as a family

1. Halloween Bingo

Materials needed

  • Halloween bingo cards (these can be found all over Google or Pinterest)
  • Halloween candy
  • Prizes for the winners (candy, small Halloween decorations, etc.)

Find and print the cards for Halloween bingo and start your game. You can play by filling in the whole card, or just rows for little ones who lack patience. Good luck! 

2. Halloween hunt

Create a map with objects that represent Halloween: skeletons, ghosts, pumpkins, etc. Simply set off on an adventure in your neighborhood and try to spot these objects with the children. Something to get the whole family moving!

3. From slime to pumpkin

Materials needed

  • 1/2 cup white glue
  • 3 cups shaving cream
  • 1/2 tbsp. baking soda
  • orange food coloring
  • decorated Mason jar
  • 1 tbsp. tablespoon of saline solution (contact lens fluid or saline solution designed specifically for making slime

Mix all the ingredients except the glue. Add the glue at the end, which will make the slime react. Put the slime in the decorated Mason jar. There you go! 

Organize a movie night

4. Halloween movies

To get in the mood, there’s nothing better than a good horror movie… or a Halloween movie.

5. Popcorn, a must!

We even have a recipe for Halloween popcorn! 

Materials needed 

  • 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels or bags 
  • 270 g of coarsely chopped white, coarsely chopped
  • A few drops of orange food coloring
  • Edible Halloween-colored sprinkles

Make your popcorn. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, coat your popcorn with white chocolate and colored sprinkles. Leave to rest for 15 minutes in the refrigerator.

Tinkering for pleasure

6. Fluorescent lenses

Equipment needed

  • One opaque glass
  • One transparent glass
  • One round glowstick

Activate the glowstick and insert it into the bottom of the opaque glass. Add the transparent glass on top. Fill the glass with the liquid of your choice. And there you have it! You can even add ice cubes with spiders to get you even more into the mood.

7. Masks

Materials needed

  • Cardboard plates
  • Scissors
  • Accessories for decorating them (paint, pencils, glitter, etc.)

Cut out a shape and add the paint colors of your choice. Punch 2 holes for the eyes. Attach strings or an elastic band on each side of the mask.

8. A personalized sweet bag

Materials needed

  • A plain fabric bag
  • Fabric paint or felt-tip pen
  • Fabric glue

Felt-tip pen

Trace your design and cut out the felt. Then stick the pattern on your bag.

 

Fabric paint

Paint directly on the bag. Let the children paint directly on the bag.

Cooking

9. A Halloween pizza

Equipment needed 

  • Pizza dough 
  • Fresh mozzarella 
  • Olives 
  • Basil 
  • Rosemary 
  • Tomato sauce 

Cover your dough with tomato sauce. Add the mozzarella cheese. Place the olives in which you have stuck the rosemary. Bake your pizza at 400°C until the cheese has melted. Add the basil to create eyes for the ghosts. The kids will love it!

10. Witch's brooms as a snack

Equipment needed

  • Pretzels
  • Cheese to shred
  • String

 

Shred the cheese. Cut each cheese into 6 cm sections. Place a pretzel on top. Complete your brooms with the string!

11. Vampire teeth for dessert

  • Soft cookies of your choice 
  • Small white marshmallows
  • A tube of red cream 
  • Sliced almonds 

 

Cut the cookies in half. Spread the red cream on each half. Add the marshmallows to form the teeth. Stick the cookies together and add 2 almonds to the front.
